Do you LOVE dressing up for Halloween? Are you drawn to visiting haunted houses, cemeteries, horror movies? Do you get excited at the sight of skeletons, witches and ghosts? I DON’T! So when the ladies in our Facebook group started posting Halloween-themed images and requests increased for photo sessions where they could wear their spookiest costume, I thought it would subside and I would go about my boudoir business.
But it DID NOT STOP! Apparently it’s a thing?
One of the advantages of being a small business owner is that I get to decide what I want to focus on and what direction I want to go. So when the ladies kept asking, I paid attention. And we scheduled, for the first time, a Halloween themed boudoir session. We call Body Beautiful Boo-doir Sessions.
And I have to say, I have a new appreciation for all of you who love to dress in costume! The time you spend creating your costume, figuring out the pieces and parts. Creating your vision and vibe. And the make up! Oh my goodness we saw some amazing make up over the past couple of weeks!
I also learned a lot about the origins and history of Halloween, or All Souls Day, or All Hallows Eve, or Samhain. One of our beautiful ladies is Wiccan and came with her authentic witches’ hat, broom and crystal ball. She shared with us some of her practices and beliefs about celebrating the earth and her ancestors.
So whether you’re about dressing in costume and attending a party with friends, or being part of a ritual to honor those who went before you and celebrating a new lunar year, “Halloween” can be at once spooky, fun and sacred.
