What REALLY happens behind the scenes at an empowerment photo session with Body Beautiful Boudoir? Here is a behind the scenes sneak peek into all the details of an empowerment session with us!
I know it seems odd when you hear from ladies that their session was “the best experience of my adult life“. And, this experience was “life changing“. And when you hear that women want to schedule another session as soon as they walk out the door. I get that it’s difficult to believe. I mean, it’s just a photo session, right? Right! I am always rattled, touched, moved, when I hear these words.
But until you are here, in front of my camera, I don’t think you can really understand it.
I will, however, do my best to describe what happens during your first session with us.

ARRIVAL
After your salon appointment (which is amaaazingggg) where you had your hair styled and makeup and eyelashes applied, you will travel to our studio location. Michael will meet you outside near the front of our building, greet you with a hug, and he will help you carry your items inside. You will chit chat nervously probably as you approach the door to the studio. . . which is an apartment on the 5th floor of a new downtown building.
While I am nervously pacing inside waiting for you, I may be sipping on wine or perhaps bourbon, nervous about your boudoir session. Yep. Every time I am nervous. You will walk in and I will most likely stare at you, trying not to be awkward. See it’s not just you who is nervous!
We will talk a bit, Michael will offer you a beverage, refill mine, too and encourage us to move to the couch and get in the mindset of accomplishing what we are here to do. . . capture images of you being YOU in a confidence-building empowerment session.
WARDROBE REVIEW
The next minutes will be spent talking about what you brought with you to wear. You will unpack your bag, talk about what you love that you brought, look at the colors, any accessories and I will hear what excites you. Between the two of us we will pick out 3-5 of your very favorite items you brought and discuss our strategy for the next 60-90 minutes of your boudoir session.
We will talk about what is a MUST WEAR outfit for you, what I think would be fabulous to use based on your coloring and body type. We will talk about the parts of your body that you are proud of, and those parts that you would prefer to minimize. We will say out loud that it’s our goal for you to see the beauty in all of you, while understanding that we all have body insecurities. We will send you to the bathroom to put on one of your outfits – typically it’s an outfit that covers MORE of your body, and as we warm up you will get more and more comfortable and be ready to change into something with less coverage.
